Lithium-7 in Form von Lithiumhydroxid-Monohydrat (7LiOH-H2O) wird hauptsächlich in der Kernkraftindustrie als alkalisierendes Additiv für das Kühlmittel des Primärkreislaufs von DWR-Reaktoren verwendet, um den pH-Wert der Wasserchemie einzustellen. Es wird auch als Hauptbestandteil von Ionenaustauschermembranen für die Wasseraufbereitung verwendet.
